Memories from Paul Stacey, one of the 'Bramshaw Golfing ladies'

Created by Sarah 3 years ago
The four of us met and joined forces when Bramshaw Golf Club offered 6 free lessons to anyone who wanted to learn to play.  We became a very independent gang of four and played every Wednesday we could for the past 12 years.  Our golf improved and we became firm friends.

We had a combined age approaching 300 but we could still giggle like silly schoolgirls and appreciate friendships made in later life!  We shared the joy and laughter of family weddings and the outfits worn.  We shared the births of our grandchildren and then the fun and joy that they gave us.  Jill often related funny stories and sayings by her beloved boys, Ollie and Jack.

Jill started by being our Head Girl, arranging timings and details for us although she was invariably not quite late but almost!  We discovered that she was the kindest, gentlest person who always kept her calm whatever the situation.  Jill was a very active, intelligent and clever lady as her many varied activities and interests showed but she was also very modest and self effacing.

Maybe an abiding memory of Jill was always her reluctance to go first at any time so it was decided we should go in alphabetical order but then, how well did we know the alphabet – memories!

We will all miss her.
